  • According to comicbook.com, Princess Leia #1 has sold over 200,000 copies in pre-orders and there is still another month before it comes out. And if you follow that link, toward the bottom you’ll find an interview with the Star Wars Marvel editor Jordan D. White who teases the series that will be following Leia.

The series after Leia, which I can’t talk about at all, has a very distinct feel, and a different tone from the other books.

Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 185 is their first release from their trip to Salt Lake Comic Con FanX. In this episode they have interviews with Jess Harnell and Rob Paulson. They talk about doing voices, Animaniacs, and Jess mentions Rock Sugar. It’s funny because I’ve been listening to a lot of Rock Out Loud lately and Steve often mentions Rock Sugar, so I’ve grown familiar with the band. However, I forgot he also did the voice of Wakko. It’s also odd just how close Rob Paulson’s normal voice is to Yakko. Afterwards they talk with legendary comic artist Neal Adams who talks about Batman, Gotham, Green Arrow, X-Men and the comics industry. Really nice interview. Following that is an interview with Star Trek designer Jon Eaves who talks about working on the various films and tv shows. Then they have a great interview with Star Wars artist Dave Dorman who talks about getting his first gig with Star Wars, his latest work with Marvel on several comic cover variations, and the deal with Star Wars Celebration Anaheim (which Dave mentions there might still be a chance that he can go). Lots of great interviews making this an excellent episode to check out.

Coffee With Kenobi: Rebels Reactions “Idiot’s Array” episode features guest Dennis Keithly as they talk about the Star Wars Rebels episode, Lando’s presence, Hera’s prominent role, and the use of Lando as a divide and conquer mechanism to the crew which turns into a message of unity for them all to stick together. It’s a fun review of the episode.

Full of Sith: Tasia Valenza Special Release features an interview with the voice actress for Shaak Tii (and many more characters). First off, Tasia’s audio is superb, which makes this a great interview to listen to. She talks about switching from on camera acting to voice acting, working on Star Wars, doing conventions, working with Mark Hamill, thoughts on The Force Awakens and the excitement of seeing the original cast again on screen, and much more. Here is this week’s Around the Web news roundup of Star Wars and beyond.

Book News

We’re three months from this.

I was thinking about the book today and trying to articulate the way that I thought about Vader throughout the writing. In the end, I think I had two touchstones.

First (and I wrote this in all-caps at the top of the blank page when I first starting writing the book): VADER IS ALWAYS MENACING! ALWAYS!

Second, I kept in mind that Vader is a monster. Perhaps an understandable monster, but a monster nevertheless.

Anyway, can’t wait for this to hit so you can read it for yourselves.

Comic Review: ‘B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #127′

January 21, 2015 at 12:02 am | Posted in Comic Books, Dark Horse, Reviews | Leave a comment

B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #127 is a Hellboy story without Hellboy. That said, it still has the same artistic richness and mysterious story elements that make the franchise intriguing. In this issue, one of the agents returns from near death experience and finds a revelation for himself, one that might be the key to their success against a mystical monster. Here is this week’s Podcasts in Review.

Bombad Radio: Episode 182 starts out with Jeremiah and Zach talking about tv shows and Nobility. Then they break to their interview with Adrienne Wilkinson who talks about Xena: Warrior Princess, The Force Unleashed, voice work, acting, and Sam Witwer’s impressive knowledge of Star Wars. It’s a nice interview with some good behind-the-scenes looks at various shows and Star Wars projects.

Coffee With Kenobi: Show #29 is a look back at 2014 with special guest Rob Wainfur (The Bearded Trio). Together they recap their year in Star Wars, their guests, interviews and major events of the year. If you’ve missed any episodes, this is a great way to find out what you need to go back and listen to.

Full of Sith: Episode XCVIII Bobby, Bryan and Amy share what they’ve been up to, before Bobby moves things along to a variety of topics, keeping the pace moving, and the discussion flowing. They touch on Gary Whitta leaving the Star Wars standalone movie, their thoughts on Star Wars Rebels “Path of the Jedi”, the fates of Kanan and Ezra, who Fulcrum might be (Leia or Ahsoka?), whether Kanan is really a Jedi cowboy, whether Hera has been pushed to the side, the impact of Yoda, new The Force Awakens casting leaks, the actors from The Raid, and movie posters. Great episode covering a lot of ground. A nice burst of Star Wars. Continue Reading Podcasts in Review…
