And here is this week’s Around the Web…

Art News

Fans of Star Wars artist Chris Trevas can now visit his new Facebook store which has plenty of items to choose from including original pieces.

Star Wars artist Jerry Vanderstelt has a piece featuring R2-D2 up for sale.

If you don’t feel like spending money, you can head over to WDW Tiki Room who is holding a contest for a free piece of Star Wars artwork by Brian Rood.

Book News

There’s been some talk about Joe Schreiber’s Maul: Lockdown on twitter this week.

Star Wars Books: The Plagueis/Sidious scenes in MAUL: LOCKDOWN are like watching Mr. Burns berate Smithers, knowing that Smithers can Force-choke the bitch.

Jennifer Heddle: Finished the Darth Maul manuscript this afternoon. This isn’t even typically my kind of book and I think it rocks. So it must be good?

This on the heels of the blurb which was released last week.

In other book news, Time Traveled Tales has reached its $11,000 stretch goal which means readers will get a bonus story by Michael A. Stackpole. If they can reach $14,000 readers will get an additional story by Aaron Allston, so if you haven’t already, feel free to back the project.

Fans eagerly anticipating the release of Shakespeare’s Star Wars can check out an early review by Pete over on Lightsaber Rattling.

Hollwood.com hosted a google hangout with some fellow leaders in Star Wars fandom to discuss the Star Wars Expanded Universe.

(thanks to FANgirl Blog for the heads up)

Convention News

If anyone happens to be going to the American Library Association convention in Chicago this weekend, keep an eye out for author Timothy Zahn. He’ll be at the Tor Books booth.

In other convention news, author Kevin J. Anderson will be in Chattanooga, TN this weekend for LibertyCon 26.

Dave Dorman has also revealed that he’ll be heading to Elgin, IL on July 13 for Comic Book Mania.

Carrie Fisher has been added to the roster for Fan Expo Canada alongside fellow Star Wars actor Ian McDiarmid. The con will be kicking off August 22nd, so if you’re near Toronto, be sure to get your plans ready.

Next week Florida Supercon will kickoff on July 4th and guests will include Star Wars comic artists Stéphane Roux, Dave Gibbons, Clayton Henry, Bob Layton, and Jerome Opeña, Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actors George Takei (Lok Durd) and Gregg Berger (Kalani), Barbara Goodson (Mother Talzin), and Jennifer Hale (Aayla Secura), plus Jett Lucas (Attack of the Clones).

Episode VII News

Pete over on Lightsaber Rattling takes a nice stab at the Star Wars Episode VII casting call and who we could be looking at in the future film. Click here to check it out.

Interviews

Linda over on FANgirl Blog interviewed author Michael Hanson who wrote Star Wars: The New Myth.

ForceCast has a special Star Wars Celebration Europe II artist interview episode with Joe Corroney, Hugh Fleming and Lin Zy conducted by fellow artist Spencer Brinkerhoff III. You can listen to it here.

Last but not least, terribleminds has an interview with author Paul S. Kemp covering his new book A Discourse in Steel.
