Author Drew Karpyshyn posted a new update on his website including details on his upcoming original fantasy novel Children of Fire. The first pass on the manuscript has been completed and it’s now in the hands of his editor, so we’re definitely seeing some progress. Both Children of Fire and The Scorched Earth (the second book in the trilogy) are planned for 2014 release. According to Drew, Children of Fire is the longest novel he’s ever written clocking in around 150,000 words (Darth Bane: Path of Destruction was around 110,000 words).

“That’s not to say things are slow, though – as I’ve mentioned before, I hate “filler” in my books. I don’t like to write scenes where characters sit around a campfire and share poems with each other; even at that length every chapter keeps the plot moving forward.” -Drew Karpyshyn
