NBC news reports that Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, has passed away at the age of 82.

Update: The Armstrong family has issued a statement saying Neil Armstrong died after complications resulted from cardiovascular procedures.

Update: Family statement: “Next time you walk outside on a clear night & see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong & give him a wink.”
