In case you didn’t know, there’s an upcoming science fiction anthology featuring a list of heavy hitters: Aaron Allston, Kevin J. Anderson, and Michael A. Stackpole. Stackpole mentioned the upcoming anthology back in September at DragonCon.
[untitled] military SF story: Aaron Allston, several other authors and I are working up a collection of short, military SF pieces for a digital anthology. I’ve been toying with a series of fighter pilot stories set in my Purgatory Station setting. These stories will take place a couple decades before the other stories I’ve written in the universe and fill in a key piece of that universe’s history. I’m working on the first story right now, but have notes on a whole series of them. It will be a lot of fun to be writing military SF and dropping characters back into cockpits—and getting to toss in all sorts of alien societies and politics will just make it that much more fun.
Furthermore, Kevin J. Anderson tweeted that he’s finished writing his short story “Comrades in Arms” for the anthology, which he revealed to be named Five By. On Facebook, he revealed a little bit more:
Today: edit “Comrades in Arms”, new novelette for military SF antho FIVE BY with Mike Stackpole, Aaron Allston, Loren Coleman, and B.V. Larsen.
Allston also mentioned a story that would be part of a sci-fi anthology on his blog.
“Big Plush,” a longish SF pseudo-military short story intended for a military SF anthology. I won’t describe it yet except to say that it’s odd.
Five By will include authors Aaron Allston, Kevin J. Anderson, Loren Coleman, B.V. Larsen, and Michael A. Stackpole. Thanks to Aaron Allston, we now have a cover image as well.
